More about Costa Rica Roasted Beans
Grown in the Tarrazú region, a high-altitude environment with volcanic soil, these arabica coffee beans are known for the vibrant, bright flavor, with complex fruit, notes of citrus and chocolate and nutty undertones.
Costa Rican coffee beans are truly unique in their flavor profile as the country has a rare alignment of volcanic soil, high altitude, a consistent tropical environment, and a ban on producing on low-quality robusta coffee beans.
CoopeTerrazú:
In 1960, a group of 228 coffee bean farmers/producers founded CooperTarrazú, leading to consolidation of over 5,000 farmers and producers who depend on their crop to support their family. This organization is a powerful resource for farmers and producers to ensure careful cultivation practices, selective harvesting, soil management and protecting the coffee cherries before they go to processing.
The coop sorts, processes, dries, grades, stores and markets the green coffee beans, which are then exported to roasters or coffee importers/brokers.
The coop also provides resources for financing, recommendations, crop management techniques and guidance around sustainability and productivity.
